Movie nights at home just got a whole lot better with this seriously tasty and nutritious take on this good old fashioned movie snack.
There’s a lot more to love about cauliflower than the taste though. It’s rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that support heart and brain health, as well as containing a compound (glucosinolate) that aids the body’s detoxification system. There’s also a number of studies that suggest the humble cauli may play a role in preventing various types of cancers.
The secret to the flavour in this recipe is nutritional yeast, which has a delicious cheesy flavour and is high in Vitamin B. Let me tell you, this stuff, along with lemon, salt and chilli flakes make for a killer flavour combination… okay so the cauli might not ‘pop’ or crunch but I assure it’s so melt-in-your-mouth delicious you once you’ve started you won’t be able to stop!
You will need:
1 small head of cauliflower
1 tablespoon coconut oil (or butter), melted
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon nutritional yeast flakes (available in health food stores)
1 pinch Himalayan rock salt
1 pinch dried chilli flakes
What to do:
1. Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
2. Cut the cauliflower into florets
3. Toss all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and lay on a baking tray, bake for around 20 minutes, until golden and a little bit crisp.
4. Serve and see how far into the movie you can make it last!
